The aim of my thesis was to investigate how the accessibility of legal contract texts can be improved through graphic design means. This topic is important as it promotes societal equality. I used a practice-based research method and the project was divided into two artistic tasks: 1. The visualization of a debtor's notification obligation and 2. The visualization of the credit process between a bank and a corporate customer into a comic strip. In my thesis I also discuss accessibility and legal design from the perspective of a Graphic Designer through the information gathering phase of the design process and the actual artistic work.

The results of my research revealed that a Graphic Designer can have a multifaceted impact on the accessibility of a legal document. Layout and typography structure the content and create a hierarchy for it. Visualizations, on the other hand, expedite the finding of information, as well as help to understand and emphasize important contents. The designer's goal is to clarify the legal content and consider different user groups. Accessibility-enhancing methods are chosen on a case-by-case basis, and the final document can remain text-heavy, become image-heavy, or combine these two.
